LIFE ESSENTIALS

Many Detroit neighborhoods lack access to LIFE ESSENTIALS that many of us take for granted—things like healthy food and beverages, personal and home goods, and even reliable Internet.

While we could spend time discussing the "why" behind this, I'd rather focus on a solution and ask, "Why not?"

My solution is rooted in returning to basics, inspired by the "corner store" many of us grew up with in our neighborhoods. These stores provided more than just essential items; they were places where we connected with our community, caught up on local news (our old-school internet), and often left with a sense of hope, encouragement, and even love.

This idea is brought to life with KORNR STORE, a neighborhood market located in Detroit's NW Goldberg community at 6224 16th Street, Detroit, MI 48208. It's a modern twist on the traditional corner store, offering the essential items we need for daily life.

When you think about it, those old corner stores were the original 15-minute, walkable neighborhoods.

Developed by P8 Real Estate Solutions, KORNR STORE will provide a variety of LIFE ESSENTIALS: pre-packaged fruits and vegetables, staple foods like milk, cheese, and yogurt, a coffee bar, ready-to-eat breakfast and lunch options, snacks, beverages, and select products from local Detroit small businesses.

Kornr Store is a small-scale project designed with the community in mind—focusing on neighborhood connection, walkability, green space, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives. Above all, KORNR STORE will foster an inclusive, positive, and welcoming atmosphere for local residents, seniors, and visitors alike.

Kornr Store is  located near beloved neighborhood landmarks like the Motor City Museum, Henry Ford Hospital, New Center, North End, Midtown, and surrounding areas.

This is more than a store—it's a hub for food, connection and community
